Research Skills are the Key to a Successful Blogging Business

Blogging is a very popular pastime for millions of people, and it is also a lucrative business for millions of more people. You might think that people who blog have to be stellar writers, but the truth is that a good blogger has to have much more than just the ability to string some words together.

There are so many “everyone can be a blogger” sites that people start to think that everyone can be a blogger. Unfortunately, when any industry is labeled as having a low barrier to entry and the job can be done by anyone, the value of the work goes way down the tubes. If you can pay someone to do your blogs for less than a penny a word, why would you pay an actual, real professional blogger hundreds of dollars? Remember, you get what you pay for in any industry.

Working from home aint that the dream of pretty much every office worker, who is struggling with the 9-5 routine?

Unfortunately, there are several problems that can make your blogging journey a hell and in this post I will talk about them:

You Don’t Have a Boss

Yep, the main benefit of working from home the fact that theres no one giving you orders and telling you what to do, is also one of the biggest obstacles that every marketer will face once they enter the blogging world.

There are two main reasons why bloggers quit firstly they either dont get the recognition they think they deserve or secondly they dont earn the money the think they should have earned. And although thats not hard to figure, the issue goes deeper. Why didnt blogger A achieve the two in the first place?

The answer is lack of planning, lack of research and lack of knowledge. The three all come from one think lack of motivation. Simply starring at the unknown without a clue where to start is demoralizing. On the other hand if you had a boss, your daily routine would come down to simply doing what you are told to.

Nothing more, nothing less. Its all chewed up and you just have to do it.

Your Home is Full of Distractions

The TV, the radio, the contents of your refrigerator, your dog and even the same internet that you use for your work from home undertaking There are lots of things that can get you carried away.

Dealing with all of this is not an easy challenge. Distractions have been my biggest problem when it comes to creating fresh content frequently and writing on daily basis. Spending forty minutes on it doesnt seem like much, but often times once you start, everything around you becomes ten times more interesting than it was a minute ago.

The brain isnt always cooperating. Even though you might know exactly what you have to do how to get on with your tasks, you still cant resist stepping off of your computer for no obvious reason.

Making Money Aint Easy at All

If you think about it, figuring out the different monetization techniques doesnt take much reading. Several articles into the topic and you will already know what affiliate marketing is for instance. You will already know that you simply need a product and a bit of promotion to get people to buy and make money blogging. How simpler can it be?

The thing is it all looks deceivingly easy in theory. When put to practice however neither one of the monetization techniques is easy. And even if you apply step-by-step everything that youve read, there are still no guarantees that you will make something out of your blogging presence.

And since I mentioned affiliate marketing, lets assume that you prepared a really solid product review and that youve chosen a well-targeted product your readers will enjoy. Now its time to publish the post, its time to promote it and to make sure that people buy from you and not from someone else.

But wait a minute, you started blogging two months ago, why would people choose you and not one of the A-listers out there in your niche?

No, no and no. You dont have to find a solution to that problem.

What 90% of the bloggers dont realize is that they making money from their blogs right after they start is close to impossible. That is the reason why a good lot of them simply abandon their undertaking they see that their hard effort is not paying off  but they dont realize that blogging and internet marketing are long-term time and money investments.

Research Skills for Blogging

The number one thing a stellar blogger needs is amazing research skills. If you want to be a blogger, you need to bone up on your ability to read about a topic at a high level and write about it quickly and in a way that makes a new story from an old story. If you can deep dive into a topic using four or five sources, you can begin to craft your own opinions about a topic and provide more insight and intrigue into something that might not otherwise be very interesting to you. Knowledge is power, and in the case of blogging, knowledge is fuel and a paycheque.

Your ability to research topics can open up a world of possibility in your blogging career. If you are willing to write on a number of topics, you are more likely to find gainful opportunities.

Obviously, as you become more skills on certain topics you will want to focus on that niche, but when you are starting out, don’t limit yourself to just the things you know about: research can take you further. If you are serious about blogging and want to be able to do more than just write opinion pieces, you may want to consider taking a class on how to do proper research. It’s not just reading: you need to be able to pick out the major arguments, see the counterpoints, and envision an alternative twist on the piece.

A professional blogger can write about anything; but not because of his or her amazing writing skills, because of his or her amazing research skills.

As a serious blogger, you can write on any number of topics. For example, you can write about steam mops for clean-smarter.net – Clean Smarter | Best Steam Mop Reviews for May 2017. You can write for love and relationships for Match.com, you can write about medical uses of marijuana for cannimed.com. The possibilities are endless.

If you want to get started as a blogger, start researching a variety of topics today. Prepare some sample blogs on a wide range of topics to show your clients that you are capable of taking on even the most obscure writing projects, and you can knock them out of the park. Remember that your research skills are key to your blogging career. Don’t take them for granted.

Dont Quit, Be Persistent!

Basically in order to make money blogging, you start with finding the most simple of elements that you need in order to complete the monetization puzzle.

And what is the most basic element? Traffic.

If you lack the traffic, spending time and money reviewing and buying products is plain worthless.

In order to make progress, you should focus on one component until you make it work and then move on to the next. For you as a starter this means that the first thing you should care about is building an audience.

And the problem is that monetization and building an audience dont always go together. People dont like being sold.

That is exactly why you should start with CONTENT. Content if well-written is what spreads the word, what gets you subscribers, followers, fans. Then secondly you should get to know your readers and start building relationships. That is what builds trust around your brand.

Not until you have those two things in place should you begin monetizing. And that might take six months, a year or even two. The key here is persistence you should be there day in and day out!

In Conclusion

So what can we say in conclusion?

Blogging and making money from home is certainly a dream for lots of folks out there. And although actually making the dream come true is definitely not an easy task, it is doable.

You can make money blogging as long as you dont start monetizing right away and as long as you have the patience and will to keep researching, writing and publishing quality, practical and easy to understand content.

Now on to you guys!
